Portia's superpower is working with imperfect datasets - framing the right evaluation questions, selecting methods that balance rigour with practicality, and translating results into insights that clinicians, executives and policymakers can rely on.

How she got here

  • Built a strong foundation in clinical research and biostatistics, working hands-on with longitudinal and retrospective health datasets across clinical and academic settings.
  • Led and contributed to evaluations at the Centre for Digestive Diseases, analysing treatment outcomes and diagnostic approaches to support service review, patient communication and clinical decision-making.
  • Supported quality, audit and governance activities during the establishment and operation of a TGA-approved laboratory, contributing to protocol development and evidence-based internal decision-making.
  • Delivered advanced statistical and predictive modelling projects through the University of Sydney, applying regression and machine-learning techniques to real-world clinical datasets.
  • Currently completing a Master of Biostatistics, continuing to build expertise in rigorous, transparent and decision-focused analytical methods.
