Shaping the future of the 7th Community Pharmacy Agreement
Approach
The project involved the design and implementation of a national evaluation (including an economic evaluation) of the programs involving 170 community pharmacies and consumers. The evaluation used a mix of primary and secondary data sources, including program administration data and PBS data. As part of this project, HealthConsult developed and implemented a monitoring and review framework. We also designed and undertook and activity-based costing (ABC) study to measure the costs of the interventions associated with each of the four programs. The ABC study involved 50 community pharmacies as sites.
Outcome
The evaluation informed the suggested improvements and recommendations for program delivery under the 7CPA that were used by the Department in negotiations with the Pharmacy Guild of Australia.
