27 Dec Review of vitamin D testing (2012)
The (then) Department of Health and Ageing (DoHA) engaged HealthConsult to undertake an evidence-based review of vitamin D testing services to ensure that the services reflect contemporary evidence, improve health outcomes for patients and represent value for money. The review was commissioned as part of the Comprehensive Management Framework for the Medicare Benefits Schedule (MBS). The project involved consultation with key stakeholders, development of a research protocol, a systematic review of the clinical evidence for diagnostic performance and the safety and effectiveness of testing, a review of current clinical practice guidelines, and an analysis of data from Medicare Australia. The project commenced in December 2012 and was completed in October 2013.
