Review of the current health services configuration and distribution in Tasmania to inform the Commission on Delivery of Health Services in Tasmania (2013)

The Tasmania Commission Secretariat in the Department of Health and Ageing (DoHA) engaged HealthConsult to perform a review of the current health services configuration and distribution within the Tasmanian health system. The project focussed on hospital benchmarking (in terms of service utilisation) and hospital access and service distribution analysis for the major Tasmanian hospitals and the three regions. Comparative analysis took place at two levels, first the range of services provided by hospitals serving similar populations to the three major hospitals in Tasmania, and then the range of hospital services utilised by a defined regional population. The project commenced in July 2013 and was completed in November 2013.
