Review of lipectomy services (2012)

The (then) Department of Health and Ageing (DoHA) engaged HealthConsult to undertake an evidence-based review of lipectomy services to ensure that they reflect contemporary evidence, improve health outcomes for patients and represent value for money. The review was commissioned as part of the Comprehensive Management Framework for the Medicare Benefits Schedule (MBS). The project involved consultation with key stakeholders, development of a research protocol, a systematic review of the clinical evidence for safety and effectiveness, a review of current clinical practice guidelines, and an analysis of data from Medicare Australia and the National Hospital Morbidity Database. The project commenced in February 2012 and was completed in September 2013.
