20 May Review of ambulatory electrocardiography (2016)
The Department of Health engaged HealthConsult to undertake an evidence-based review of ambulatory electrocardiography (AECG) to ensure that the services on the Medicare Benefits Schedule (MBS) reflect contemporary evidence, improve health outcomes for patients, and represent value for money. The project involved consultation with clinical experts, a systematic review of the clinical and economic evidence, an analysis of utilisation data from Medicare Australia, and a guideline concordance analysis. The project commenced in January 2016 and was completed in May 2016. The technical report will be considered by the Cardiac Services Clinical Committee of the MBS Review Taskforce.
