02 Sep Literature review of erythrocyte sedimentation rate (2015)
The Department of Health engaged HealthConsult to undertake a literature review of the erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR) test. The purpose of the literature review was to determine clinical best practice relating to the measurement of ESR for the diagnosis and/or monitoring of various conditions. The literature review involved a comprehensive literature search and preparation of a summary document outlining the findings from published systematic reviews and recommendations from recent clinical practice guidelines. The project was undertaken to inform discussions at the meeting of the Pathology Services Advisory Committee (PSAC) in July 2015. The project commenced in March 2015 and was completed in June 2015.
