Evaluation of the Asthma Best Practice for Professionals Program (2014-2016)

Evaluation of the Asthma Best Practice for Professionals Program (2014-2016)

The National Asthma Council of Australia (NAC) engaged HealthConsult to evaluate the Asthma Best Practice for Professionals Program (the Program). The Program provides education and support for primary health care practitioners to assist them to undertake best practice management of asthma and linked chronic respiratory conditions (e.g. allergic rhinitis and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease). The key activities of the Program involve face-to-face workshops, of which there are seven different types, run by the NAC’s team of experienced health professional presenters using standardised material adapted for local needs. The objective of the evaluation is to determine whether the Program is meeting its objectives and to examine the key issues, barriers and success factors of the Program. Key features of the evaluation methodology include a national and international literature review; qualitative and quantitative data collection and observational analysis of a number of the workshops. The project commenced in July 2014 and is expected for completion in May 2016.
