Development of classification, costing and funding for non-admitted services in NSW (2011)

NSW Health engaged HealthConsult to carry out a non-admitted classification, costing and funding project, as part of the implementation of national and state level health reforms relating to activity based funding (ABF). By working with staff of NSW Health and Area Health Services, the study established the current situation with respect to the classification, costing and funding of non-admitted services in NSW, estimated the costs of delivering non-admitted services (using existing data), designed a fit-for-purpose NSW non-admitted classification and funding system, and produced a report recommending the work that is required to implement ABF for non-admitted services in NSW. The project commenced in March 2011 and was completed in July 2011.
