23 Jul Critique of catheter-based renal denervation for treatment-resistant hypertension (2014)
The Department of Health engaged HealthConsult to undertake a critique of a submission to the Medical Services Advisory Committee (MSAC) to include catheter-based renal denervation on the Medical Benefits Schedule (MBS) for patients with treatment-resistant hypertension. The submission assessed the safety, effectiveness, cost-effectiveness, and financial implications of the proposed intervention. HealthConsult’s critique will be considered by MSAC when it formulates its advice to the Minister for Health on whether the medical service should be publicly funded. The project commenced in December 2013 and was completed in January 2014.
