18 Sep Cost Impact of Health Reforms (2015)
The Department of Health and Human Services in Tasmania engaged HealthConsult to provide advice on the impact on hospital operating costs of a series of health reforms that will result in changes to the configuration and volume of services in Tasmanian public hospitals. The project involved using activity based management techniques to examine the impact on operating costs of a series of proposed changes to the service profiles of the major hospitals in Tasmania. Potential changes to the need for patients to travel to receive were also examined. Five separate issues-based reports were prepared that were considered as part of the preparation of the White Paper “Developing Safe and Sustainable Clinical Services that was released by the Tasmania Government in June 2015. The project commenced in March 2015 and was completed in June 2015.
